Summary of Primary Job Responsibilities:
Primary Job role:
Lead the engineering design and development, develop innovative solutions of the agricultural implement for India and a few export markets like South Africa, Europe. The proposed implements are rotary tiller, ploughs, cultivator, seed drill, trailed sprayers, threshers etc.
- Coordinate with testing and homologation agencies for the field trials and certifications.
- Coordinate the requirement engineering with sales and marketing, manufacturing, customer support and supply management organizations.
- Actively participate in prototype developments and field trials. Coordinate with functions such as supply management, customer support, PV&V etc.
- Lead Continuous Improvements for the current production and coordinate with the manufacturing team for resolving the design issues related to production and implementation on CI.
- Coordinate with Engineering Service providers for getting the engineering work done.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering. Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering preferred.
Experience Target (in this job or a related function/field):
10-12 years after Bachelors Degree in Engineering or 8-10 years after Masters Degree in Engineering.
Skills:
- Design of Agricultural products, implement and equipment.
- Mechanical and machine design fundamentals.
- Communication Skills.
- Project Management fundamentals.
- Software: Creo 2.0 onwards, MS Office proficient, specially in MS Excel.
Knowledge/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Agricultural products, their usage patterns.
- Indian and International Standards for Agricultural Equipment, Implements.
- Knowledge of Materials engineering, specially for sheet metal.
- Knowledge of homologations and safety standards.
- Product development processes and tools like FMEA, DFSS, System Engineering etc.
Special Certifications:
Certification in Project Management, Design tools like DFSS, System Engineering.
Travel Required :
15-20% of time. Within India, specially in Central and Southern states.

Physical Demands:
The person has to be physically fit for running the machines/tractor/implements in the field.
Working Conditions:
Mostly normal office environment. However, the field test visits, visits to homologation agencies can be harsh, tough environments (e.g. exposure to high ambient temperatures etc. )
